At the end of the presentation is the opportunity for extension activities for more able pupils. We have suggested that children are presented with pictures of famous landmarks or cultural aspects of a country and are then linked to child centred search engines such as Yahooligans (http://kids.yahoo.com/) or Ask for Kids (http://www.askkids.com/) and carry out research on the topic or that country, using the original picture as a stimulus.
The lighthouse for learning sitecovers the major languages and there are materials for whiteboards.
We have found that the Promethean board was very unaccessable and we could not complete or attach any of the activities which we had planned in the timescale we were given. As you can see above we had planned to set up hyperlinks.

Understanding and using the foreign language
1. In the early stages of language learning pupils might be taught:- how to use and respond to the foreign language
- how to listen carefully in order to discriminate sounds, identify meaning and develop auditory awareness
- correct pronunciation and intonation
2. Pupils can be taught about other countries and cultures by:- working with authentic materials including some from ICT-based sources
3. In order to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding further, pupils might also be taught:- how to initiate conversations
- how to use dictionaries and other reference materials
- how to communicate with each other in the foreign language in pairs
