A list of useful Geography sites:

These are mainly resources and online activities.

Barnaby Bear
Barnaby Bear is a great resource to use in Geography. His travels round the world help children to learn about different countries. Young children love Barnaby, and his appearance in unfamiliar places and environments helps children to relate to them. Seeing their own Barnaby in the classroom, and then seeing pictures of his adventures in faraway places helps children bridge the gap between the immediate, familiar environment and abstract, unfamiliar environments.
There are many online resources that link with Barnaby Bear and his travels. A few are listed below:

Geography outside the classroom

Geography is certainly a subject that is easily linked with the outdoors. It's fair to say most geography happens outside! Most county councils have a education department that specialises in Outdoor Education. They are often a good source of inspiration for outdoor ideas and help to smooth the way for a successful field trip. Don't be scared of leaving the school grounds. Field trips are amongst the most memorable times children have at school (Nundy, 1997), let your class benefit.

Hampshire Outdoor Services is an example of what is on offer.
