Topic Box - This site is brilliant for mental maths games and is interactive so all you need to do is get the website up onto your whiteboard and the kids can have a go. One of the best ones is the ice-cream van game, which involves the kids making decisions about how to spend money on stock and how to choose appropriate locations. The idea is to understand that the decisions they make will either generate a profit or a loss, so brilliant for 'real' life thinking skills!! Anyone, it's actually just good fun! Really useful as a maths lesson warm up or at the end for kids who have finished early.
Pudsey Pictograms - This file is a powerpoint presentation. Through the use of a pictogram the levels of fundraising and the amount of money raised by each class is displayed. There is also a list of questions the children can ask in relation to the total raised. http://carolynlucas.wikispaces.com/file/detail/pudsey_pictograms.ppt
Sponsoring a child, raising money for children in need outside the UK, link between fund raising at school and PSHE. Can also link with RRR , global perspective, not all children have access to the things children in the UK have access to eg clean water, education etc
Free fundraising service, raising money for the school when shopping on line. Involvement of parents/carers, at no cost to them, school as part of the community.
Printed tea towels and bags, children’s own work and designs again being used. Early introduction as above to Business Enterprise ideas which are taken further at |KS3 and beyond.
